The latest buzz coming out of Yale is a promise of no new cavities for people using this “molecule” called “Keep 32“. The problem I have with “Keep 32” is that all bacteria including Streptococcus Mutans can mutate and develop a resistance to antibiotics. This has already show up with the use of antibiotics in the animal industries and using antibiotics to treat illnesses in animals and humans. Changes in bacteria can also disrupt your normal gut bacteria giving you other medical problems.  I believe this may be great for use in toothpaste and mouth wash but I am really concerned about the use in candy and other sweets. UCLA has also developed a new mouth wash targeting tooth decay called STAMP. What do you think?
